I've obviously seen these signs all over reddit, but didn't actually see one until yesterday. Where I live there are lots of soda shops, where you can buy fountain soda and get all sorts of flavored syrups and blended fruit and such. I don't know if they'd technically qualify as a fast food joint, but I'd be shocked if the hourly employees made any more than 9 or 10 an hour. I went to one yesterday, and they had one of the signs up in the drive through window.
The funniest part? I agreed with 95% of what was on the paper. It had stuff like “we're short staffed and doing our best, so we please ask for your patience”, which I fully support and agree with. But they just had to throw in a “no one wants to work”, which just made me groan. Especially because in the past, I know that they've put up fliers in their windows saying that they're hiring and they specify that they need people to work during the day during the school year – meaning that they employ a lot of high school students, and are mad that adults don't want to work for so low for a day shift.
I realize that we're in a weird time right now, and I am sympathetic to small business owners. But as we all know, the “bbbbbbut no one wants to work!!!” dynamic is so pathetic
