Fired after hr investigation, whats my course of action?

So I was working a job as an “independent contractor”. While the job was shitty, the shittiness started to become over the top in the final month. I was originally planning to quit but right before, my boss started to propose making changes to my schedule. I am american and i live in a state where you can record a conversation with only one party’s consent.

(I was prompted to record my boss when they refused to discuss the changes with me through official channels and would only talk to me in private and in person about it)
