Fired for defending himself

Hi ya'll. This story is coming from my boyfriend who works in the service industry. He came home one night and told me what had happened and I couldn't believe it. So I thought you all would love to hear it as well. TL;DR at bottom. I'll make this as quick as possible. My man, let's call him S, works at a popular sports bar in Tampa. They are known for their customer rewards and bending over backwards to please the customer. If you don't like something, no problem-they take it off your bill. Sounds great, right? Not if you are the server. It can make your life hell being gaslit (gaslighted?) by costumers because to them, that sounds like a free meal. One night, a group of people come in that are recurring customers. They are now known to pull that stunt constantly and never leave the servers any…

They are now known to pull that stunt constantly and never leave the servers any tips. Anyway, they get seated at S's coworker's section, let's call him B. Now, B is beloved by all his coworkers. His story is a tale of making a dumb mistake as a kid and clawing his way back up. He's super humble, kind, and has a long fuse. He's about to graduate from a program that he's worked hard for and everyone is thrilled for him.

Back to the scene: B waits on these people who, once again, are a pain for no reason. Because it was a bigger group, the gratuity (a % of the bill for the tip) is already factored into their bill. They freak out and tell B that they are not paying that. B kinda stood there and apologized, telling them that that is their bill. (What's a server to do?) So conversation gets heated and B ultimately ends up saying “You can pay the bill or you can leave and not come back.” (Do I think he should have gotten the supervisor, yes. Do I hate they he stood up for himself and his coworkers because everyone was tired of having to serve these jerks that never tip? No, I wish I could high five the man.)

At that point, one of the women stands up, get's into B's face and starts talking shit. B doesn't bat an eye, takes a step back and doesn't make a big deal out of it. Until the girl gets in his face again and licks. his. ear. That's when B loses his cool. He steps back, calls her a name and walks to the back, all while the table goes insane because “how dare you talk to her like that” etc. etc. (I'm just proud he used his words and not his hands. I would have thrown hands.)

The manager THEN comes out, deals with them, and miraculously they no longer have to pay the bill, all while they are running their mouths. B comes back out and says a few choice words to them (yes, not the best thing but who want's to be licked by a complete power tripping stranger?) and then they left.

B gets set down in the manager's office and she tells him he should go home and that tomorrow B, the manager and corporate will have to have a meeting to decide what will happen.

Fun fact: one of those women went and called the restaurant and complained about B. The next day, corporate had the manager fire B. The customer is always right, right?

TL;DR Customer got into boyfriend's beloved coworker's face, licked it, and he got fired for defending himself.
