Fired for “no call no show” when I was at work

This is kind of a vent sorry! Using a secondary account because some of my coworkers know my main. So the past few months I've worked from home for a call center, I've worked for call centers for years and was really trying to avoid them and was offered this position on the premise of it being emails only. Got into training and it was calls with emails, but the company seemed so great and had so many benefits I decided to give it a try. Training ends and slowly my daily email time is whittled down until it's back to back calls just like I was trying to avoid with every second of my life being monitored (if you've ever worked a call center you know how it is, can't even go to the bathroom for two minutes if it's not time for your scheduled break).

I have a condition that causes me to fall asleep randomly for long stretches of time and because of this, my stats and attendance have been awful. I was in the midst of working with HR about this and 2 weeks ago, I got a temporary ADA accommodation for one extra 15 minute unpaid break each day, along with switching to a part time schedule. This would have to last until my doctor was able to see me in a month for a more formal ADA request. However, this accommodation did not erase the previous warning I had for poor schedule adherence due to me falling asleep on the phones. (Keep in mind, they weren't paying me for this time where I was falling asleep so it's not like I was “stealing time” which was a drum they loved to beat.)

On Saturday I clocked into work for a meeting with my manager for an hour and a half and also had a twenty minute meeting with the rest of my team. After that, before getting on the phones, I fell asleep again until my shift ended roughly an hour and a half later. I sent a message to my manager so they would know what happened as we had agreed upon and didn't think much about it.

This morning I received a message from my manager saying I was being let go because I was a “no call no show” for work because I hadn't taken any calls that day. Even though I had clocked in and was there for meetings with both my direct manager and my entire team! I'm absolutely livid and they say it doesn't matter because my attendance is totally based on me signing into the system for phone calls, NOT on when I actually clock in to start getting paid.

It feels like they were trying to find a way to get rid of me being a “problem” employee who needed accommodations for work. This argument of theirs absolutely makes no sense. Of course they wring their hands and say they “don't want to do it but rules are rules” – I've never in my life heard of a rule where you'd get an NCNS when you were *actually there.*

I've had it! I'm done with companies lying to me. The problem is that it's all I've ever done and I don't know what we will do now since my SO does not make enough for us both. I am so tired of these call centers and their dehumanizing BS.
