So today I notified my employer that I will no longer be working for this company in 5 weeks. I felt like that was the least I could do considering how well they have treated me as an employee and just a human being in general.
I have a pretty specialized job, that the company is having a hard time filling due to their lack of desire to pay what my skills are worth. I found a company that will pay what my skills are worth (50k raise) and had to take it.
I've stuck with this company through thick and thin, listend to their “work is like family” and given them the last 12 years of my life. Just to be told to empty my desk and remove myself from company property immediately.
No attempt at a counter-offer, no attempt to get me to stay for an increase in position, just immediately to GTFO. Should have just walked out the door yesterday and never looked back.
