Maybe I was stupid for being trusting because it was a small company. I gave notice of my surgery to my employer because I will not be able to work for two months after surgery, I have proof of surgery from the surgeon. I did it because I wanted to know my job was secure(stupid) since the company does not have FMLA protections due to being too small. Suddenly all these nitpicks started coming in about my performance despite y'know me covering for weeks because people had covid and working extra hours, staying later, and giving multiple solutions to existing problems. Well I got fired and they fucking pitied me by saying ” I could work the rest of the next two weeks if I wanted to”(im not they can go fuck themselves, i'm not entrapping myself either) . Things were seemingly okay before I gave notice on the surgery, no one had any complaints about me besides the employers sudden nitpicks, which I think appeared because they know I cant be fired for having surgery. I do have a surgery letter from the surgeon, as well as a surgery documentation guide.
I don't know how to tackle unemployment(I live in blue bear state thankfully) because I don't have proof of giving notice to the employer about the surgery. The surgery is also going to make me getting a new job hard because I wont be able to work for two months(third month i cant do any lifting, etc). Any advice?
