So I was told August 8th that I would be let go at the end of the month (August 31st) me being overly nice said “If people ask just say I put my two weeks in” at that job we worked with people who are mentally or physically disabled in some way or another and I didn’t want them to have any behaviors over my all of a sudden departure. The reason for them letting me go as I was told was “We can’t trust you to run the store by yourself even though you are an assistant manger” or the old “you ask to many questions so we don’t know if you can do this” when they told me to ask questions in the first place.
The next two days I get called to HR and my boss, head of HR and the director of the company are all convincing me that I should just put my two weeks in and then I can leave whenever. I made the mistake of telling a coworker the situation and they talked and then I got called to HR again and was asked “why are you telling people we are firing you”.
Keep in mind none of what they did was on paper, it was all verbal. I got called into a meeting again with my boss and explain “I was told I had till the end of the month so I’m going to use that so if worse comes to worse I can try for unemployment” and their response 15mins before my shift was over “Todays your last day, there’s no need to come back”
That’s my rant for the month also got fired the week after my birthday. I’ll answer any questions in the comments.
