Hello!! From the title i bet you’ve guessed that I’ve (24,f) landed my first union job! I have been super down on my luck since i dropped out (feck Covid) I have 2 outta 4 years of my bachelor’s degree. Ive been job hopping since i graduated HS. I also struggle with PTSD, OCD, & GAD which makes keeping a good job hard. Hence this post. I called my local produce mart today and im hired!! Im now in the onboarding process but as soon as the paper is pushed thru, i get my start date!! They’re unionized, i can literally walk there from my house, the starting wage is quite average for my area but i will get regular wage increases as well as bonuses often the longer i stay there. Hello!! From the title i bet you’ve guessed that I’ve (24,f) landed my first union job! I have been super down on my luck since i dropped out (feck Covid) I have 2 outta 4 years of my bachelor’s degree. Ive been job hopping since i graduated HS. They even are willing to work with my health issues! Its a dream come true!

Now im curious… what tips can you guys offer me? I know i should probably have a conversation with my union rep about my rights but what do i ask? Where do i even start? I want a reasonably good reputation but i would also like to just be quiet and keep to myself with the produce so i can do my job. I also don’t know if i should have a convo about my mental illnesses? They seemed okay in the interview when i told them about my general anxiety disorder…but i really just want this job to go right for me. Thoughts?

Thanks for reading this far and I hope you hold out for that perfect profession, because it IS out there!!

tldr;
im a mentally ill college drop out who struggles to keep a consistente job & i need advice about my first union job in a local market.
