Antiwork

For anyone that needs to call out or has backlash for a missed shift.

This is something I’ve seen a lot of and I just finally got the courage to come here and post in hopes that a phrase that’s helped me, could possibly help someone else out. I’ve had numerous jobs throughout my 38 years. I’ve had awesome bosses and some downright vile. The most common issue with most jobs I’ve had is that if you need an unscheduled day off that YOU, the employee, need to find coverage. Anytime a manager has ever said that I’ve responded like so: “A lack of preparation on your part, does not constitute an emergency on mine.” No idea where I learned this but it’s stuck with me for decades. If you have an emergency, your employment should have plans in place for such. It’s not up to you to make sure everything runs smoothly for everyone else. I hope this can help someone as it’s…

What’s a phrase or attitude that you’ve maintained that’s helped you get over “work issues” ?
