My fiancé was told there would be a very important meeting that everyone was required to go to.
There's been some issues with some employees so he was hoping they would take care of it so he wouldn't be having to do their job too. Accountability basically.
Well… it was not. He said for about 10 minutes they discussed work, the rest of the hour or so was an ad for Aflac insurance.
They passed out papers and told everyone to put down their names and email addresses to enter to win a duck Keychain (I'm not kidding, seriously). My fiancé of course did not put his email down.
The guy kept pushing for all of the employees to sign up for life insurance but kept saying, “I'm not trying to sell insurance to you, just telling you the benefits.”
Lots of stories about various people he know who died and got policies taken out.
This was a required meeting for ALL employees of the company. This company is unrelated to insurance just to be clear, so it really didn't make sense to try to sell shit to their employees.
We can't be the only ones thinking this was a bit sketchy and scummy. Luckily he got paid, but for an hour minus gas he could've just stayed in bed.
