Throwaway for obvious reasons.
Long story short, I was fired from my job after 5+ years with the company in early June. Today, late July, I get an email from the company telling me to expect an email from FedEx with the nearest shipping locations to pick up labels and boxes to send their equipment back.
The email I get has locations 60 miles away. They are fully aware of my home address, and they tell me I should make a 120 mile round trip instead of going to the one that's literally 0.2 miles away. I'm sure this was a mistake and they don't actually expect me to make a 120 mile round trip, but the people at this company have been useless, so who knows.
Some questions, I guess.
- I can't just ignore their email, can I?
- I have several personal items left in the office from pre-pandemic that they haven't sent back even after I was asked if there was anything in the office that I wanted returned. Can I tell them I'll return their equipment once I get my stuff back?
- What's the legality behind literally shitting in my laptop before I send it? That's a biohazard, right?
- If I do have to send everything back, I will. But I'm not going to be nice about it. Would I get into legal trouble if I were to reply with a strongly worded email and CC my former managers and company president? (Obviously no threats, but I can't guarantee I won't swear at them. I don't care to be professional at this point.)
