Friend fired for first time, now sure where to go from here.

edit: i am so peeved i typed now instead of not in the title Long time lurker and I don't know if this is really the right place to post this but from reading here I know y'all are super knowledgeable. So basically my friend was working at a start-up for about a year iirc, was hired under false pretenses hourly, got moved to salaried recently and was implied she'd actually start on her intended position from when she was hired but due to some SERIOUS internal issues within the company (turns out the company is a lie, numerous laws broken within the company both for employees and patients, super absolutely fucked up company at every level) things started snowballing out of control bad fast over the last month. Long time lurker and I don't know if this is really the right place to post this but from reading here I know y'all are super knowledgeable.

She was suddenly removed from all projects and given absolutely insulting tasks while being talked down to. In her 8 hour day she was meant to sit in on meetings about meetings and be told to 'look in google drive folders and write down the titles of the studies contained within' and then mocked in follow-up meetings which asked her what her tasks/blocks were. My friend has degrees and prior to this was working on multiple large research studies at this job so…it was like telling a doctor to organize the pens by color then patronizingly explaining what colors are.

If it were my story I'd have 15+ paragraphs of the absolute insanity that has occurred at this company but it's not so I won't detail them here.

Today they fired her. They fired her by saying she 'may have noticed' she was blocked from their communication platform, her position was no longer necessary, bye.

That was it, nothing else. We ultimately know why but it doesn't change anything.

So….she has never been fired before. Or salaried, she wasn't even sure how to leave the job properly but that was a bridge to cross in a few weeks.

She's incredibly smart and resourceful and I know she'll bounce back but she was blindsided by this after weeks of mental/emotional abuse by this company and I want to help her but I have NO IDEA how. I've never worked in the system before, I'm home care for my disabled family, so I don't even know where to begin.

What resources or whatnot can I help her with? I thought salaried people had like…unemployment or something if they were fired?
