Fuck worker availability, apparently

A little less than a year ago, I started working at some fancy, overpriced, yet still fast-food and bakery restaurant (wont say the name but I’m sure you get which one I’m talking about). Anyways I worked there for a few months and it was going ok, they even worked with me having to cut down on my hours due to family issues in the beginning and I was making a dollar more an hour than I was at my previous job (granted I was 17 at the time, I thought that was a major steal). Around the 4/5 month mark I started noticing that they were scheduling outside of my availability, but it was only by 30 minutes to and hour so I didn’t really mind that much.

It was when they started scheduling me overnight and early morning (I’m talking 3/4 am when I only filed my availability as early as 7:00 am) that I started to get a problem with it and stopped showing up outside of my agreed upon availability.

I showed up to one of these shifts where I scheduled at 4:00am at 7:00am and intended to work the remainder of my shift until 3:00 that afternoon. My manager was furious that I was late to which I told her “I’m not late, I told y’all multiple times that I would be here at 7:00 like we agreed to on my paperwork”

She didnt like this answer much, to which she told me to be there at my scheduled time the next day. Again I said “I’ll be here at 7:00,” to which she said “NO. We’ll see at 4:00am when you are scheduled.” I simply said “sure see y’all then.”

I then made myself a sandwich and coffee I didn’t pay for, went home and never worked another shift there. Didnt then in a two weeks notice, never called the manager back, and am now working a job making 5 more and hour there for much less work and actually enjoyable managers and coworkers.
