Fudged over

Hello all, I work in healthcare. About 6 months ago half of our team quit, including our trainer. We never officially hired a new trainer so I took over with assisting new hires and our current team in every way. I guess I could say I was the unofficial trainer, since this was not reflected on my pay or my job title. Over that time period every single coworker and new hire recognized me to HR, some people did multiple times. I was doing this for $15 an hour. 3 months into this my employer said “to match the current market everyone is getting a $1 raise.

Fast forward to last week, my employer announces we are merging with another team, came into our area and said EVERYONE is getting promoted, to the role I had been working for, for the past 6 months +. I was then raised to $19 an hour. I was excited about the raise but still a little upset since I still had the same title as people who literally started a week ago. So the promotion really meant nothing.

2 days later my employer came to me and said they made a mistake on the spread sheet and lowered my pay back down to $17.60. My coworkers and the people who I trained to do this job are all making more than me. Then, she rearranged our assignments, I of course have the hardest job now “because I can handle it” and I am isolated in a corner with no resources, support or training on how the heck to do this job.

I feel so defeated! I feel like I wasted a year of my life! I am not making a living wage! I live in a big city and rent for a 1 bedroom is currently over $1,000 and gas is up to $4 a gallon. I work healthcare for the biggest healthcare provider in our city and I am making pennies.
