Gave em a 2-Day notice.

Been hunting for a while. Had to turn down a job that head hunted me for a local union pipefitter job. Starts at little less hourly but the benefits and monetary growth outweighs the head hunters. Anyway gave the shitty place i was at a peice of my mind and a 2day notice, im leaving today suckers. Names and company names have been changed obviously. All, Effective immediately, I quit. To some of you this may come as a surprise.  Others may be saying “good god ,finally”. As you all should know, 2021 ended with an average of 6.8% for our national inflation rate.  It also ended with an average of 3.5 Million workers quitting their jobs per month. These two facts alone created my assumption that employee retention would be toward the top of redacted priority list, if not the number one priority. My assumption was wrong. I received…

All,

Effective immediately, I quit.

I received a 2% raise for 2022. Some would think that this was better than nothing right? Well some quick math will show us the error in that. We are currently experiencing around 6.8% to 7% inflation.  We will say 7% for easy math. 7% inflation minus my 2% raise totals 5%.  When you factor this in,  I took (in essence) a 5% pay cut this year. This is over a $2000 dollar cut in my buying power.  This was absolutely insulting and disrespectful. It also shows that Lamcos is completely and utterly tone deaf to the current struggle of the working class.

I had held out hope too, thinking to myself  “maybe we didn't really get a christmas bonus because they are planning to show it in our raises!”. Boy was I wrong.  You could have given us the smallest of amenities to appease us. But, rather than take care of your employees, you chose the way of greed.

Those are not the only reasons I am tendering my resignation. A couple more important ones that caused the loathsome feeling I had while coming to work are as follows:

1) The toleration of those who contribute nothing to the company while collecting a paycheck. These same people receive no consequence for their actions.

2) The blatant disrespect from coworker to coworker and superiors towards subordinates behind their backs is completely out of control. Come on man, this stuff is just atrocious. Are we all children? Yea some of us have dumb moments, myself included. I'll be the first to admit that. However, there is just no need to kick a guy every chance you get.

3) The absolute disgusting nature of our parts inventory and shop floor. Honestly the shop floor is a fire/trip hazard and really needs to be addressed. Hopefully this happens before it costs somebody their safety.

4) There is absolutely zero chain of command.  I was consistently reporting to two or three (sometimes even 4) different people. I still have no clue what my job title was or my actual duties were.

I should have taken warning when the red flags presented themselves. Some as early as my interview. Such as when I was told, “We'll need to get you off those dirtbikes” . You never had (and never will) have a right to tell me what I can do with my free time… joking or not. Some people showed their true colors later, like when I found out we weren't paying out overtime and instead cutting you out early for the week. If I stay past my scheduled leave time of 3:30, then the value of my time has gone up by at least 50%. Leaving early the next day does not pay for the time that I missed that evening at home with my wife.  I work to provide for her and for me. She is my priority, not this company.

I do want to commend a couple of people so they know that this is not about them. These people are listed below:

M is a great manager that is spread FAR too thin. He treats his employees like human beings. He consistently displays empathy, respects the people he works with, and truly leads them. I enjoyed working with M. The way he handled his staff created, by far, the most beneficial part of my time here.

B. has the gall to handle his own problems. While he may have his faults, he makes consistent efforts to be better. He is very competent and generally a good person.

S. busts his ass every day and has learned very quickly. He deserves a big raise. He is always here early or on time and is the last to leave. He is a generally nice guy.

C. is, quite honestly, one of the most undervalued assets we have. This man's pay vs the profit margin he brings in should be considered criminally low.

I'm sure you'll all read this letter and say/think things like “he' being a snowflake”,  “no one wants to work”,  “Here's another millennial being lazy”, or other things along those lines. When you do, I hope you remember this email.  I hope you stop and remember how hard I worked before we were removed from redacted. I hope you remember how this place sucked the good hard working spirit right out of me. I hope you remember and give your remaining and incoming employees the respect and compensation they truly deserve.  I hope that this letter, and my resignation, make you all think about the things that led me to this moment of departure.  But I'm sure this will fall on deaf or offended ears. Instead of being offended, DO BETTER.

Anyways, I'm starting to ramble and rant so let me get to the point.

I QUIT.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CONTACT ME.

FULL STOP.

My uniforms have been returned as of 2-11-22.  My company credit card is on the shipping table.
