I work construction. In a union. Currently working in barely ventilated , hot af floors in a building.
I wear a camelbak because I'm prone to dehydration. There's a lot of water in the gc's office, in the 5 gal dispensers. I took some earlier in front of him, transferring the very cold water from a cup to my backpack. He said nothing.
Second time I came around, hours later, red faced and feeling overheated, he told me to “do him a favor, that's ___'s water and it's not for 'the field'” meanwhile there are 2 people in that office and like 3 of the 5 gal jugs. He told me to use the water fountain on another floor, I asked if it was cold, he said he didn't know, if I ran it for awhile (his tone And face made it clear he didn't care, either).
Thing is, as we all know, cold water helps with temp control, and it's super hot today, even hotter where I'm working. Osha says the contractor has to provide water but I'm pretty sure it doesn't say it has to be cold.
Other thing is, I'm gonna drink this water whether he wants me to or not. When I run out of my own I need more, and I also need not to faint. Any ideas on how I should handle this going forward, or is the sneaky idea the best one?
