Getting a counter offer

Long story short – I like my job but the pay isn’t great for what it is. I’m in London in finance / IT – and it’s not bad a wage but below average. I could find a new job in the same field fairly easily, but I’m not keen on adding risk to my life right now. Does anyone have any tips for getting a counter offer out of my current employer now I am starting to get offers from new prospective employers. The job itself is great and I’ve been here 5 years, but I just want to be able to afford to not have to choose between a holiday and buying some new clothes. Also I know I’m super lucky already and it’s no strictly anti work but more pro- being valued I guess
