Basically title. Going to be purposefully vague, as much as I'd love to name and shame the company, because I'm a little worried about identifying info (it was a pretty small business), but essentially my gf had been in contact with an employer since February and training with them over these past few months for a few days and weeks at a time when they texted just today and told her they wouldn't be moving forward with hiring her because they'd found someone else…a week before she was meant to actually start.
We're both sort of glad as there were some red flags (other than the $13/hr). Micromanaging, not compensating her for doing double the work she was trained to do, never talked about a contract in the beginning. But it was still a pretty rude and unprofessional thing to do. She has about $600 in savings right now. We probably have enough to get through luckily, but shame on the employer. She's an artist. It's hard enough to be motivated to spend time on anything that isn't her book and drawings; she didn't deserve to waste time training at a new
job that literally said they don't have anyone else in mind and she basically had it, and then not even get it.
