So just to preface, they have a diagnosed severe panic and anxiety disorder. About a week or two ago she was in a car accident, not too severe, but still hit her head on the headrest pretty hard. The next few days she had a headache and slight dizziness, but by day 3, her first day working since the accident, it was becoming worse. Even though we figured it was nothing too serious, until she knows from a doctor that it isn’t, she will convince herself something is very wrong. So she’s at work, has to work 8am-11pm and let her GM know that she doesn’t know if she can make it through the day, because not only was she dizzy she was constantly having panic attacks from being worried about something being seriously wrong. She was training to be a manager and stuck it out until 3pm when I then took her to the emergency room. Her boss kept telling her she needs someone to cover the rest of her shift and wouldn’t help call people to cover or anything. So she eventually just left and one of her friends even ended up staying for her. So the ER gives her vertigo meds and figured out something with her inner ears were knocked off and are causing her vertigo. Fast forward to today, she was told she is no longer becoming a manager because of this. While I just wanted to vent, I was also curious if there is anything that protects workers from this kind of thing.
