Might be a long one TL;DR at bottom
I work at a diner as a server. I've been working in restaurants for around 7 years both Foh and Boh. The GM at this diner is by far the most inexperienced and incompetent manager I have EVER worked for. As the story goes, his Mom bought him a restuarant to co-own with her… 2 years in she gave him the GM position because, I can only assume, the other GMs could no longer put up with her. She's a whole other can of crazy though. The GM, we will call him Chrysler, is such a spoiled rich boy it's insane. I.E. I had a table send back the soup because it tasted off. I asked the GM ig he could other make a new soup or cook the soup up to temp because I could tell by looking at it wasn't cooked to temp for nearly long enough. It was potato soup and it looked like paste it was so pale. He snottily told me that, “YoU can't tell by looking at it,” I told him you absolutely can. He then said, “how would even know? How long have you worked here, like a month?” I had been working there for six months.. was not impressed by that.. you should know roughly how long your employees have been employed. Roughly. 5 months of being unappreciated and unnoticed. Which makes sense because he takes vacations every other weekend and even left for a golf tournament during one of our busiest weekends.. on top of leaving us with just the 19 year assistant, he also didn't do inventory or complete our truck order correctly so we were out of multiple items and even things like hairnets and napkins. They have no deep clean lists. They never shampoo carpets. We haven't had one of our most popular items for about 4 months because he refuses to actively DO HIS JOB. Half the employees don't have food handlers permits. He's paying people under the table and brags about how he avoids payroll tax by doing so. Our server checkouts sit in envelopes in a cardboard in the office and that bitch is FULL. The kick3r is the mop comment though. He's never closed his own store. Ever. But. Since mom owns the restaurant, her son gets free pass after free pass. Perfect restaurant for Ramesy to come tear apart tbh.
TL;DR Mommy bought a restaurant and made her son GM so he'd stop being such a lazy freeloader. Results have been exactly as expected. It will fail within two years.
