I've had a lot of shitty bosses, but I want to give credit to my current boss.
Last week, our major competitor was shut down by the state. That left dozens of huge contracts open and a major opportunity for our business. We already do millions in business and we were #2 in the state in our industry.
The very next day, we started to get in dozens of trucks of product so we could keep their customers running. Our guys are running ragged trying to keep up.
The boss decided that he didn't want the business because it's too hard on our workers. He said he makes plenty of money and doesn't want to grow any bigger. He said it's not worth burning us out for extra money he doesn't need. He could pay us all more for the loads of extra work and hours, but he'd rather we have lives.
I respected him before, but even moreso for this move. He could have decided he wanted more and more, but choose to think of us instead. I find that very commendable. He's giving the extra contracts to smaller businesses instead of taking them himself.
He could have been the biggest in our industry and just told us to deal with it, but he didn't.
Shout out to my amazing boss. I plan to be here until I retire. That's how you do it.
