I get paid $27 an hour. I have unlimited sick leave, cultural leave, 5 weeks annual leave, 7 months parental leave, and a 30 hour work week. My union fees are paid by my workplace. My boss isn't perfect, but she does treat me like a human being and listens to what I have to say. My workplace is trans inclusive and working to decolonize.
My work is sometimes stressful and frustrating. But compared to the horror stories I have been seeing here I feel very lucky.
Workplaces with good working conditions do exist. All these working conditions I have listed above are financially feasible for my organization. So don't let “we don't have the money” be the excuse. I hope you all win the working conditions you are fighting for.
