I just put in my 2 weeks notice today. It wasn't what I wanted and it wasn't something I felt good doing.
I worked as an assistant manager at a fairly successful wing-joint/ sports bar in San Diego. On Monday I had a customer come in and cause a scene. He was a known problem customer and he lied and complained loudly until he got what he wanted. He lied about what the other AM for my store had written for him in our comp book. When I figured out what had happened, I spoke to him privately after he finished eating. I told him I didn't appreciate being lied to and that my general manager would be in touch with him. He said horrible things about me to my face. Belittled me and threatened me. So I told him not to come back. He insulted and threatened me more until I threatened to call the cops. I almost quit after he finally left.
Today my GM sat me down and informed me that upper management has decided to put me on a 2 week suspension followed by demotion and a corresponding pay cut. Loosing 2 weeks of pay and taking a pay cut after is something I can't afford. So I quit. Wrote out my notice and handed it to my GM. My coworkers asked what was going on as I left and I was honest.
I will be attempting to file for unemployment and trying to sort out a car to give me more options for further employment. I needed to get this all down so I can try to stay calm. Sorry for the rant
