Got a cease and desist on an Indeed review I allegedly wrote

As the title says, an old employer hired a lawyer to send me a letter claiming an Indeed review I allegedly wrote was defamatory. I worked for a shitty small Chiropractor office back in 2019. Overworked and underpaid with no benefits. Two weeks after I started I was promoted to Office Manager, simply because the old Office Manager quit without notice. That should have been a red flag, considering I was by myself for 6 months after I started because he couldn't find anyone to fill my previous position. Whenever he talked about giving me a raise, he always lied and said he would have to talk to the “board” first. There was no board, It was one doctor (the owner) that ran the business. My partner called the Chiropractor Board in our state and they stated they do not control people's pay. He always lied about his availability to…

He always lied about his availability to patients. The office was open on Fridays but we were never allowed to book patient appointments that day. I had a patient call to book an appointment on a Friday, I stated we had nothing available, the patient continued to ask “How about next Friday?..No…The Friday after that?…No…How about the Friday 2 weeks from now?…No.” I had to lie and say the doctor has meetings every Friday he has to attend to. Never saw that patient again.

I quit in October 2020 when I found a new job with better pay and benefits. After I gave my two week notice, he gave me the cold shoulder. I believe he took me leaving personally. He would not look me in the eye or talk to me for my last 2 weeks. Never asked what my new job was or what I would be doing. On my last day, all he said was bye. Now, we actually had a good relationship, back when I first started, we got along well and got to know his family. He took me out for drinks a couple times with his wife and son, bought me lunch a few times.

“Someone” left an Indeed review claiming how bad of an employer he was to work for, etc. An old coworker quit a few months ago, telling me that she was called a backstabber and two face for leaving, with a 3 week notice. I am now being threatened to take down the review I allegedly wrote or they will take this claim to court. The mentioned review was taken down and a new one has been posted.

TL;DR: Old employer is threatening to take me to court over a bad review written on Indeed, claiming what was written is all false and defamatory because they can't find anyone to hire and the wife is now pregnant with a second child and can't continue to work.
