Got bitched at yesterday, quitting today.

So it's been a long while since I posted last, I had since gotten a job I was more or less fine with. I became a receptionist in a hotel. But ever since the day I started, stupid shit just kept piling up. Coworkers not doing all the tasks they are supposed to The coworker that was supposed to train me on my last day of training decided to go party instead Within the first month of me working I was left to attend the reception all alone with no backup while the hotel was fully booked by 300 people, of which booking had not handed anyone any information to Staff meetings where only the boss gets to say a bunch of stuff but none of us receptionist got to say anything (multiple of us had written notes with us of things we wanted to say) Restaurant decided to start…

So it's been a long while since I posted last, I had since gotten a job I was more or less fine with. I became a receptionist in a hotel.

But ever since the day I started, stupid shit just kept piling up.

  • Coworkers not doing all the tasks they are supposed to
The coworker that was supposed to train me on my last day of training decided to go party instead
  • Within the first month of me working I was left to attend the reception all alone with no backup while the hotel was fully booked by 300 people, of which booking had not handed anyone any information to
  • Staff meetings where only the boss gets to say a bunch of stuff but none of us receptionist got to say anything (multiple of us had written notes with us of things we wanted to say)
  • Restaurant decided to start having lunch serving in house, realized they don't have enough waiters and demand that the receptionist wait the lunch serving as well as tend to the reception simultaneously
  • Staff food is always void of any nutrition (usually without flavor too). It usually is some dry piece of meat and some steamed potatoes.
  • 8+ hour work day, since coworkers rarely show up on time, and some of them tend to stick around after their shift ends without clocking out.
  • Management had a period of idiocy where they thought about taking away the chairs from the reception.
  • Always only 1 receptionist on shift.
  • I still haven't gotten a uniform

And last but not least, yesterday's events:
I had about 99 rooms on checkout, miraculously they had all checked out by 12:00. Since I had nothing else to do I decided to sit on a chair and take a peek at my phone. Suddenly the F&B manager comes and scolds me for sitting and says that “she's been told nobody is allowed to sit in the reception, and we shouldn't complain since she's running around 15 hours a day! And if standing is too tiring we can pace around behind the reception to activise ourselves!” So I got pissed off and just clocked out and went home 2 hours too early after texting my boss and my coworker taking the next shift about it.

My boss was understandably confused and upset and said that skipping work is not okay and it's normal to not get along with everyone at work and said she will have a chat with me today. I am planning on telling her then that I want to quit.

I told my boss that I would only take feedback about how I do my work from my boss, the guests at the hotel or the director. F&B manager falls under none of those roles, and I will definitely not stand for being scolded by someone.
