This situation was last year, but it was so ridiculous I had to share. So I work used to work at LockerFoot. We have raffles on shoes every month. Jordan’s, Dunks, etc.
Here’s how the raffle works:
We receive 30 pairs of shoes of random sizes, customers are allowed to enter the raffle on the companies website to determine a winner.
Now majority raffles are first come first serve, just because you won, it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get the shoe, and some are reserved.
We got a new manager, he was very sketchy from the start. He wasn’t approachable, extremely childish, and he ran the place like a dictatorship. (Mind you majority of the people that work here are in Highschool or college students, and our manager is in his 40’s) He would talk about the minors that worked there in ridiculous ways, start drama like he’s reliving his high school lunch table, it was ridiculous. Everyone had an issue with him, he also fired anyone that stood up to him, for any reason. For raffles, our old manager would pick the best employee of that month to get the employee pick. Our manager didn’t do that, he saved them for himself and kept reselling them.
He also fired anyone for the slightest thing. The store was in a dead spot, dead on weekdays but insanely busy on Fridays-Sundays. He would yell in the mics about not helping customers when there’s nothing to do, he would send us home early if we folded a shirt wrong, but we all put up with it because the commission was so good.. until he failed to tell us a couple weeks after he’s been there our commission was taken away. For the past couple of weeks we were all making 7.25 flat. And we didn’t know until the next paycheck.
Long story short we went from 26 employees to 10 in two months. The reports got so bad that corporate had to come up there and watch us work.
Now I only stayed well, I needed a job. I was broke and getting ready to leave for college, but when raffle times started we all thought it was suspicious that we had more than 6 pairs of shoes left. Basically we found out our manager was telling customers that won that they sold out, he rang them up as if they’ve been sold, and he kept them so he can resell them for 2 times more. We had proof, camera proof all of that. He was even so dumb that he had resellers come in the store to buy the shoes from him during work hours. We reported him, had a meeting with HR, and the district manager.
Long story short, he did not get fired. Me and the other employees got fired, and you know whats crazy? The district manager was also back-dooring shoes at another location.
Now, none of us can apply to LockerFoot or any of its partnering companies. Not that we even would do it again.
