Hello everybody,
I've got in a very unpleasant situation. I was tricked by the company's new management, and now I'm unsure what I should do.
I worked for the architecture company for 25 years, and I planned to work for 2 more years, then retire and dedicate some time just to myself. I was in charge of checking the calculations to ensure that the building wouldn't crumble down in the event of a natural disaster. As you can imagine, this job requires a lot of expertise and attention to detail. It's also an immense responsibility since so many human lives depend on it. Because of my efforts, my company gained a stellar reputation on the market.
My previous management appreciated my skills and my expertise. That was until the company's owner decided to retire and sold it to his friend, who brought his protegee. She found out about my salary and made a lot of fuss, demanding to cut it. Probably, so she could get a raise to buy fancy things. She acted totally disrespectful, and I could barely handle the whole situation. However, I thought I had to hold on for 2 more years, quit, and they could do whatever they wanted.
About 2 months ago, I got a job offer from a company that had been sending me job offers for a while. It was my chance to quit. I did everything according to my employment agreement. I informed our HR 2 weeks in advance that I'm quitting, and guess what? They didn't let me go. They needed me for a complex project. I thought my job would be secure for these two years, but after two months of insanely intensive work, they fired me for being too old and not fitting into their young team, giving me a bullshit excuse.
Now, I don't have a job, and I lost that offer. I don't think that someone will hire me any time soon because of my age. I was thinking of doing something with my savings to get a steady income, but I'm not really savvy about these things. I googled investment opportunities and found some interesting websites on investment, like Investor Junkie, but these are just words written on paper. I want to hear real people's opinions on investing life savings and assets worth investing into.
I'd appreciate it if someone could give me advice on this.
Many thanks in advance.
