Got ghosted by an interviewer

I used to work at a social media company right out of college. Dumb amount of money for living in a huge city and being graduated for a week. I was only a contractor so no benefits or PTO, but besides that I was able to spend whatever I wanted. My contract ended at the height of COVID and I found a new job that was permanently WFH. I absolutely love my team, but after two years I only got two small raises that bring me nowhere near what I used to make. I saw a job opening at my old company for a full-time position doing the exact work that I used to do and still do. I applied and within two hours they set up a phone interview with me! I was excited to get paid more with benefits. That was a week ago. My interview was yesterday…

That was a week ago. My interview was yesterday at 1:15 PM. I’m in the middle of moving and had to pack still, but blocked off an hour of my day for this. I’m also working at the same time so I had to block off work time too. I open the meeting invite at 1:10. 1:15, 1:20, 1:30, 1:45, all the way to 2:15 I waited. Nothing. I contacted the recruiter multiple times asking if one of us had made a mistake. Maybe it was because they were on the west coast? Nope. I sent an email confirming 1:15 my time, 10:15 their time. I emailed again last night and no communication at all.

Why even set up an interview with someone you said was a “great fit for the team” and just no call no show no nothing? I would say that maybe it was an emergency but they were liking stuff/going online and offline on LinkedIn multiple times since my interview. No shit I’m a great fit. I used to work there. Why would you not even show up?

Made me feel less bad about not returning their laptop and expensive monitor after my contract ended because I couldn’t go into the office to return it. 🤷‍️

On a completely unrelated note, right after this went down, my boss offered me the exact salary I made at my previous job which ends up being a $13k raise with benefits and a $7k bonus. I can keep doing as little work as I do now while making more. You win some you lose some I guess!
