Got Hired as Porter at Mercedes Benz dealership. THE PROCESS was a joke

Hi guys, So I got hired at Mercedes Benz as a porter. What shocked me about the whole process was that I had to undergo the most time consuming interview process EVER. I had to be interviewed by three different people at three different times of the day. One was by the HR manager, one by the manager of that specific department, and one by the General Manager of the whole store. the process of JUST INTERVIEWS took 2 hours. I had to to get references and an actual written report recommendation from a old manager from Sam's club. Hi guys,

So I got hired at Mercedes Benz as a porter. This written recommendation had to be emailed from my old manager at Sam's to the dealership. Then I had to get two references from old colleagues that had to be written on app. Then I had to do a drug screening and background check. basically it took me a total of a half a day to go back with my old manager to get recommendations. When I came back they gave a wage offer of 15 dollars in California. keep in my mind that this was during peak inflation, labor shortage, and the company itself was extremely short staffed. McDonalds was offering 16 dollars and pretty much every other place in California, like wtf. My last job before this massive inflation was paying above minimal wage at Sam's club and the interview process was 5 mins long at Sam's. This company is such a joke and wasted my time. I left the company in less then five months with no 2 weeks notice. The dealership was a joke and management was toxic, this same dealership complained all the time to us that they were struggling to find porters, in my head i was like “umm have you tried paying above minimum wage”
