I got hired in a Sr. Mgmt/Director/Leadership position. I'm 15 years deep into a fairly successful tech career. Crushed the interview, negotiated my salary up 20% from the initial offer and snagged myself a sweet 25% signing bonus as well, to be paid in full on my second paycheck, which is a little unheard of in my exp.
During the process, the hiring company was bought out by another conglomerate, and I had to do all my paperwork thru the new companys portal.
Fast forward 6 weeks. I have filled out my information in the portal over 7 times, I have spent 3 days schlepping to drug screenings only to have them be cancelled. They continuously send important emails to the wrong address I have provided tax info, employer info, personal and professional references, and educational bg including my fucking GED. I have exchanged countless emails and I've been rudely handed off to someone's rude manager twice, only to begin the process all over again.
Pretty sure I'm being fucked with. Feels like thier Business Daddy spanked them for overspending and now they are trying to get out of it.
And the real kicker is, I turned down a higher offer for this gig (the other company sucked, but still) bc of the signing bonus, but at this point, my missed wages after 4 weeks almost nullifies that.
What are my options here? There's no way I fail the BG check if it's legit, and I already signed the offer letter long ago. Are they stuck with me? Can they just rescind and if they do, do I have legal recourse? Is there something I can say/do to make them shit/get off the pot?
EDIT: I have come to understand that they can just not hire me, and would probably just rescind the offer if they didn't want to hire me. I guess they are just incompetant.
