Was told that they were laying me off because of budget issues but little did they know I already knew they were expanding given that I and my manager are the ones in charge of the overall marketing and administration. The question is I do not understand why they can't just be straightforward with their reason for letting me go. My performance was doing well as I managed to
– Bring in more than 30% of marketing leads into their company in a span of a month
– Signed an exclusive corporate partnership with the top multinational company in SEA
…and more!
I thought this would be a done deal for them to seal the deal with my contract but right after I managed to secure the partnership with another top company they just laid me off just like that. The issue is that if you don't have the budget to secure more employees then why are they even expanding in the first place?
My previous company is also over competitive to the extend that they make employees sign contracts that don't allow them to work for other companies (especially their competitors) of the same industry they specialize in. I mean if you're a dentist and your employer makes you sign a contract that you can't work as a dentist is just ridiculous (this is what's happening in my previous company).
Excuse my slight rant here because I can't think of the slightest reason why employers think that employees are just washed up underwear they can just dispose off just like that. We're human too and they used to be in the same starting position so why can't they empathize?
