Him and another guy were telling me that if we get fired for our rate being too low, then the company just puts us on indefinite suspension so we can’t collect unemployment. I told them that that’s very shady, if not illegal. They said good luck paying for a lawyer to fight a billion dollar company. I said I wouldn’t have to if I made a report to the department of labor and the department agreed with me and that was when the laughter started. I’ve only been here a month and a half and I’m wondering why we have a union if the union isn’t good for anything.
I did have attendance issues the first couple weeks, and my first assistant fought for me to keep my job. Which I appreciate of course, but now I’m seeing we’re getting screwed out of money just by the way the company runs things. I started at $18.50 plus $1 shift premium. So $19.50 with a union and it’s all ass.
