I graduated with an MBA and worked for this start up for a few months. Decided sales wasn’t for me and went to a staffing firm to help place me in a nonprofit job.
I land a job at my old alma mater. I go through the interview process and it’s sloppy as fuck. They don’t show up on time. Have follow up interview and it’s awkward and cringe. They say no.
Get a call back. You can start in a few days. I give my alma mater a chance. Pay is bad, zero training, rude emails. I email HR after three conversations about converting. Ask for full time job. Hear nothing.
Go to work. Ask for a meeting with HR to discuss complaints. They start ripping into me. They say I’m lazy and not detail orientated. I’m bad at my job. I’m too much. That I’m at the bottom of the totem pole and they can talk to me any way they want to. They say people don’t like me. That they’re the gatekeeper and they’re not sure I even want to be there.
I’m not kidding that’s the worst I’ve ever been talked to in a job and in life. I quit this morning. A lot of context is missing but what do you all think? Am I a shit for temping and emailing to convert or were they assholes?
