Got Sent Home Early For The First Time

I was initially extremely mad but I’ve since calmed down. But I got sent home early for the very first time ever. The story basically goes a customer was yelling at me and being aggressive, I immediately got the manager because I did not want to deal with verbal abusive which apparently wasn’t the right answer. The manager said that the customer said I was being very rude to her when in fact I wasn’t, she was just upset I wasn’t gonna take verbal abuse from her. I did not scream, have an attitude, or go back and forth with the customer I simply just got the manager. The manager was ofc a kiss ass and was profusely apologizing then turned on me and said that that was “customer service” and that she basically expected me to take it. I said no ma’am, I will not. I said no ma’am, I will not. Legally if I express discomfort because an employee or customer is verbally abusing me you’re supposed to handle it.

I was then sent home after I was WORKING (aka multitasking) and was beginning to tell another coworker what had happened and not even 10 seconds into the story I’m interrupted by the manager saying that the customer can “hear” which I then shrugged like, okay? which I was then promptly told to clock out.

I have never got a complaint by a customer and have always had a pretty good relationship with all my coworkers/manager so this whole ordeal was shocking to me.
