Well as expected I got suspended and have to wait until Tuesday until they reach a decision. I knew they would push back after becoming aware and we had it set up so that only one name was out there as the 'organizer'. Once we became aware that management knew without doubt I made sure to declare publicly my intentions to unionize.
They tried every trick I had already expected like watching time punches. Being held accountable for minor and completely insignificant mistakes. I at least had the forethought to request a copy of my attendance records as well as copies of any incident reports and write ups. I was squeaky clean and on my best behavior doing all the little things no one does or cares about but technically part of procedure.
They changed my work station (job duties) they cut my OT down to 0. They isolated me and held me to a different standard. I documented all these things and persevered. Things were going pretty good still, we still had other organizers gathering information I could act on. Then I find out I am under investigation.
Apparently someone made a complaint about sexual harrasment. I never saw that coming. I was absolutely not prepared. I filed ULP with the NLRB because what else could I do at that point. The kicker was the accusations were made that someone witnessed me harassing another employee. What they didn't know was that other employee was part of the organization committee. They literally went to her and attempted to coerce her into agreeing without even telling her what I had supposedly done. I guess they either found someone else or aren't taking her denial as fact.
So now I'm basically unemployed right before my scheduled and approved vacation and will probably be unable to get unemployment or any other state benefits while I attempt to find another job while this is being sorted. The labor attorney has taken statements and will be investigating. I expect a favorable verdict but I'm pretty much screwed in the meantime haha. For the record I have not sexually harassed anyone. I don't even understand how a complaint like that could even be made against me. I was and am totally unprepared for something like that. It never crossed my mind. Fair warning to anyone else organizing!
