Been working at a Rasin caines for about 2 months, first time I missed a day and I get a call from my mother at 5am that my grandmother was in a accident, I immediately get in my car and start driving to the hospital, after I get off the phone I decide to call my manager to let him know I won't be in that day.
I tell him with a shaky voice that I won't be able to show and the first thing he asks? Not if my grandmother is ok, not if I'm ok, he asks for the location of the hospital so he can confirm that my grandmother had a crash???
I tell him the hospital then he asks for the room number, obviously I'm not even at the hospital so I don't know it, so he asks for my grandmother's name and phone number, I don't know her number off the top of my head so I tell him 1 sec so I can check and he fucking hangs up on me, I'm so in shock at this point that I just don't even care about calling him back.
I get to the hospital and my family is there and my grandmother is fine, big relief and my mom stays there and I leave later that day. I go to work the next day and am told by the same manager that he wrote me up for “lying that my granny was in a crash” I just straight up ignore him and that gets on him nerves so he tells me if it happens again I'm fired
Sorry about the rant but fuck that guy and this job, being guilted over the phone over family is so infuriating, I'm planning on just not going back anymore my next shift as I have another interview lined up.
