I worked for an Allstate agent once, years ago. I was the only licensed agent, besides the agency owner, which means she gets to take vacation, come in late, etc. She was soooooo happy to have me there. After 3 months I had to ask for commission because I couldn't afford gas to get there, but this turned out to be shit because she wouldn't let me bind policies (she suggested I file for food stamps and cash aid actually, scumbag). For instance, instead of giving me sales, she would keep them for herself because people would call in and ask for her by name, as thats the name of the agency, instead of sharing any with me she would bind them all herself; mind you the agency gets commission as well as the selling agent iirc (one commission per policy then split). When I quit, she cried she was so sad!!! My last check (the one before Christmas, as a single mom, which she was very well aware of) was short several hundred dollars. When I asked her why she said that policies I had written were rewrites (cancelled before I worked there, then reopened by me for commission), something she never discussed. This agency brought in a million or more a year btw. When I did my taxes for that year, I made 16k. I'll never forget this and I will never forgive her for indirectly messing with my child. I hope she cant keep her hands off cheesecake.
