This may not be exactly the right subreddit to go to for this so I apologize if it’s not.
I work at a family grocery store wherein both the HR rep during orientation and the supervisors/managers tell everyone that they have to clock out for all of their 15 minute breaks no matter what. This is of course in violation of US labor laws. They also have the nerve to frame it as though we would be committing wage theft if we didn’t clock out for them and that they would punish us if they found us doing it. They also tell us not to talk about wages with anybody (which is why I talk about it with everybody.) i don’t know that they pundits people for doing so but I know they discourage it.
I would like to do something about this, but I’m unsure of exactly where to go and what kind of information I should collect to provide to whomever I’m supposed to go to.
Edit: For clarification, I’m in the US in the state of Louisiana. 8 hour shifts with a 30 min allotted meal break. It is a family grocery store with only one location but it is very successful and it’s been owned by the same family for a couple generations.
