Had time to think at work

I’m sure this had dawned on, and probably been posted before. But there I was, working away at the job. There’s a pretty small “promotion” coming up with a small amount of money that comes with it. We already get paid pretty well for blue collar work so I thought it strange how little the increase seemed by comparison. Then I thought of it, not from my company’s, but ANY company’s perspective. They will only ever pay us enough so that we still have to work 40+ years. They CAN pay more, but then turnover would be higher because people could retire earlier if they wanted, or work less hours, there would be time and money lost on training, etc. There’s a line somewhere that keeps the working class working, and I’m sure it moves around. But while people fight for a “living wage”, remember: that’s where they want the…

There’s a line somewhere that keeps the working class working, and I’m sure it moves around. But while people fight for a “living wage”, remember: that’s where they want the fight to be. They want you to be grateful to get enough, and not worry that they were never going to give you more.

If I’m incorrect or oversimplified somehow, forgive me. Just thought this sub would appreciate my two cents.
