Have customers been getting more rude/demanding as time goes on ?

I’ve worked as an assistant manager at 3 separate jobs two being fast food one being an old school style big box store. Over these last 5 years. Maybe it’s just nostalgia for my old jobs but back in 2017 I remember customers not nearly being as rude. As my time in the service industry has gone on I’ve noticed that customers in general are far more rude/demanding/slow/inconvenient/bossy/entitled and generally more hostile towards staff at any service industry location. I’ve been told by others that this is because in the modern retail world customers are rewarded by companies by being rude and demanding in order to get what they want. Example a customer that complains about a products price, size, quality, is more likely to be given a free product or at a heavy discount. This might be a factor since most companies train their employees to never fight or…
