Hey all, a family member of mine is in a really toxic work environment and I'm not sure what I can even do, for context, this is a hair salon and we live in Australia.
A few of the things I've been made aware of:
The workplace isn't unionized, and they have a high turn over rate.
My family member rarely gets their payslip sent to them (as in the document that shows all the calculations for pay)
Has not sent my family member their contract
Boss does not reply to ANY text messages unless it's about asking them to work days off
Gets sent home for not having hair/makeup/nails done
Gets underpaid 55 cents on weekdays, 1.10 dollars on weekends (based on their own calculations, since payslips don't get sent)
Now obviously, this is a horrible work environment, but they're not in a good enough financial situation to leave the job. How much of this is illegal and where should we go to have action taken? Any advice or resources is greatly appreciated!!
