I have been covered under a COBRA health plan since February of 2021; my wife is disabled and eligible for an 11 month extension under federal law.
The plan administrator that my former company contracts has fucked me over ever since getting COBRA, basically stealing my money and screwing up my coverage constantly, costing me money and time. My former employer has actually been very helpful in dealing with this and terminated their contract with the administrator earlier this year. They attempted to cancel my wife's insurance even though the necessary paperwork had been delivered to them three times.
I filed a complaint with the Department of Labor, and today I had a conversation with a representative of the DoL where they low-key threatened me and talked about how the company I filed the complaint about was awesome.
The Department of Labor doesn't look out for you unless your employer or whoever you complain about doesn't play ball with the government. Remember that. The laws mean nothing when the people writing and enforcing the laws are on the bad guy's payroll.
