People are getting poorer and poorer while the rich are partying hard pretending nothing is wrong.

The peasants in France had little voice in the Estates General. Represented 98% of the pop, got one vote, always outvoted by the other two classes. Similarly, we have a voice in government with voting and stuff but money speaks louder. The rich and rulers always work together against us.

A series of droughts and harsh winters pushed the peasants of France over the edge. Perhaps a recession will be the modern equivalent.
