I’m in Australia, South Australia to be precise. I work full time in admin for an award wage (barely above minimum wage here) and I had no prior experience in this role or industry before I got this job, so I don’t expect better pay from this employer until I’ve got a couple years experience and can negotiate.
I’m saving for a house so I’ve been looking into weekend work or remote jobs I might be able to do outside of regular working hours, I’ve written up a resume with a cover letter explaining this and what my availability is.
I never get responses, even from ads that specify that they’re looking for weekend-only workers, and yet there’s so many ads for this kind of work. There are also a seemingly infinite number of people looking for a first job, let alone a second job who are reporting no responses or vague ‘no’ answers. I’ve applied for hundreds of casual, weekend, out of hours or overnight jobs and I just get ignored. Then employers go on about how “no one wants to work”??? It’s rubbish
I can’t imagine this sub is a fan of people wanting a second job but I’m just trying to move out of home asap, it’s not nice for me living with family anymore.
