I work a full time job. I got paid today, and after everything is paid, I have £40 for the next four weeks, without having been food shopping or putting fuel in the car. I am at my absolute wits end, what is the point in being alive, when all you are managing is to barely survive? How can it be this impossible for a single person in a small one bedroom housing association flat with a full time job to barely scrape by? I already only have the heating on for a single hour a day, I sit in darkness and everything that isn’t used is off at the wall. The idea of a comfortable life is so far out of the realms of possibility for a single person trying to be independent. I’m sick to death of struggling to barely survive, everything has gone up, and my wage went up by a mere 1%, making me go into even more of a darker place as the gap is never closing.
I’m sorry, I don’t really know what I need from this post, I just needed to get it out, how fucked up it is for young adults to make it alone (or not, as it seems). I’m ready to use the toaster as a bath bomb at this point
