So my company just bought another company. Our department was very very very small and needed more people. We had several open positions that needed filled.
We have now found out who the higher leadership team is going to be good and the current manager kept their job which is great as I didn’t like the person that may have gotten it from the company we bought.
We still don’t know our positions and it’s causing a mess. People are freaking out per usual when something like this happens.
None of the lower mangers know what’s going on and they are hinting to the direct reports that something is going on.
I have spoken to all the lower managers over the past few weeks and all have asked me what I think my job will be and if I’ve spoken to the higher up. This left me extremely confused as I’ve not been approached or directly asked by the higher leadership on what I want to do.
My manger is acting weirder and weirder everyday that goes by. I think it’s because they are worried about their own position on the management team but now it makes me worry about my own.
I thought because we were missing so many people no one would be laid off only reorganized and we have been told that shouldn’t happen to our team.
I’m low man on the totem pole so I wasn’t worried about promotions only keeping my job as I like my job.
Now my boss is talking about walking and positions changing and I’m getting worried.
I don’t think HR has even approved lay offs yet. I’m a high performer but during lay offs no one seems to care about that, only saving money by reducing positions.
What was a sign to you that your were going to be laid off? Do you see anything here?
