How do I approach work and finding work to maximize earnings while dealing with nasty health issues?

It's been more than 6 months since I had sudden and very severe health issues (I couldn't walk or touch hard surfaces with my right hand, was in pain constantly – suspect of MS neurological disorder) while I was looking for a new job. Once I stabilized and started to see some recovery I resumed my job search, but I needed something for 4hrs/day. No company was willing to offer work like that, and talking about my situation in hopes of finding something that would allow me to work more hours if and as I got better only made them avoid me like the plague.

So even though my field (IT, Web Dev, Front End, Web Apps – 9+ years experience, Romania based) is in high demand I got nothing for months, until a company looking to hire someone part-time with my skills came my way, but they only offered me the lowest amount of my asking rate. I let them know that that is a MINIMUM and not something I am very comfortable with, and they said we can redo our contract at a later date, but I'm not getting my hopes up and I plan on leaving around 1 year in if things don't improve in a meaningful way and I manage to also find something else(I'm 4 months in).

The whole debacle left me below 0 financially, and seeing the way things are going I'm quite nervous about the future. Even more so than normally, it's clear that maximizing what earn is crucial, especially since issues could return, and get worse.

How should I approach the work market considering my situation, how do I best present myself and what tactics should I use to maximize my potential? The hell I went through and the fierce fight for survival made my already malleable ethics/work ethics even more… flexible.

Any sort of advice or references where I could look for more information around this subject are more than welcome, I need all the help I can get.
