How do I convince my colleague he is being exploited?

Tl;Dr. Colleague offered to fly into/out of the city every two weeks. They've been working remote since forever. Hi. This is a short one. During the pandemic, our office moved to fully remote, to epic success. For two years they told us productivity stayed the same or improved. As of tomorrow, we are expected to be in the office 2 days a week. This is all “well” and “good” for those of us who live in the city that contains the office. I am going to protest in my own way.

Starting with my resume.

But my colleague, brilliant guy in so many respects, lives in a city a thousand kilometers away. So what is his answer to being asked to be in the office 2 days a week? He's offered to fly into the office's City, work for 2 weeks, fly out home, and work remotely for 2 weeks, repeat.

So not only is he working in the office more than is required, which is entirely his decision. But he's for all of the travel costs to and from he is not being compensated for this.

To be clear he's good at his job and he could find another one with better pay in a heartbeat.

I'm flabbergasted
