how do I deal with being underpaid? acctualy underpaid

Just realised that my payslip hours don't make sense I work 4 12 hour shifts thats 48 hours per working week right? Then why on one payslip I'm payed for 36 and on another 32? On one 40? How do in a professional manner ask what the fuck is going on
