My Grandma shared an article on quiet quitting saying: “So keep your job And do as little as possible?”
I responded: “Do what they pay you for, and nothing more. That's what it means. It's called setting healthy work boundaries.”
My dad said: “Do extra and prove your abilities for career and monetary compensation growth. Different mindset.”
I used to believe the latter, especially because when my dad was let go from his company of 20 years, and started at a new company where he was at the base level and was quickly promoted and given raises out the ass.
But lately in my personal experience I see lots of less qualified people who coast in all aspects of their job get promoted while people like me who did sacrifice their time and help generate company profits get the shaft. How do I explain to him that his way of thinking and a workplace like his has become the exception and not the norm? Are there some good articles which help lay the foundation for that argument?
